Mid Penn Bank, in partnership with the NFL Alumni Association, recently held a Celebrity Golf Tournament that raised $50,000 for the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. The tournament was held May 10 at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg.

“I suspect everyone of us knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer, specifically breast cancer,” said Mid Penn Bank President and CEO Rory G. Ritrievi. “As a community bank, Mid Penn is committed to enhancing the lives of our neighbors through our philanthropic giving. We are grateful for all of the support our customers, vendors, employees and celebrity guests provided to make the success of our tournament and fundraising goal possible.”

“Thirty-seven women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Pennsylvania every day,” said PBCC President and Founder Pat Halpin-Murphy. “The impact of this donation from Mid Penn Bank is immense for those women and their families. Thanks to our grassroots partners, the PA Breast Cancer Coalition is able to reach thousands of survivors through services like our free care package program, on-staff patient advocacy, research grants and statewide outreach efforts. We are incredibly grateful for this generous contribution. Thank you, Mid Penn Bank, for fighting with us to find a cure for breast cancer now, so our daughters won’t have to.”

Former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski said, “Being able to participate in an event that directly benefits the PA Breast Cancer Coalition is something I take great pride in. We all have a friend, co-worker or family member who has fought with cancer. I hope that a day comes where there is a cure, but until that day, I’ll participate in events that raise money for that cure.”

All proceeds from the golf tournament directly benefited the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, an organized statewide nonprofit designed to extend public awareness of breast cancer, and to encourage increased public and private funding for research, legislative advocacy, and high quality screening, diagnosis and treatment.

Mid Penn Bank is strongly committed to supporting charitable organizations through various means, including corporate donations, employee volunteerism and fundraising. An independent community bank since 1868, Mid Penn regularly contributes to causes including health and human services, community improvement, and education.
