Mid Penn Bank recently awarded $6,500 through several scholarships to 2017 high school graduates. In addition to the bank’s annual “Anna Woodside Scholarship,” Mid Penn also awarded scholarships to five local valedictorians and sponsored four “Best Attendance Scholarships.”

The bank selected three winners for the Anna Woodside Scholarship based on their grades, community service and essays. The scholarship is named in honor of Anna Woodside, a woman who was influential to Mid Penn Bank during her lifetime from 1912 to 2013. Woodside broke barriers for women of her generation by attending college, pursuing a career and spreading philanthropy throughout the community. The scholarship was established to reward students who demonstrate qualities similar to those of Ms. Woodside.

The valedictorian scholarships were awarded to students at Halifax High School, Line Mountain High School, Millersburg High School, Upper Dauphin High School and Williams Valley High School

The Best Attendance Scholarships were awarded to students at Middletown Area High School and Minersville High School who had the best attendance throughout their high school careers.
