MID PENN BANK CELEBRATES MILLIONAIRE FOR A DAY CONTEST WINNER IN CAMDEN, NJ

Posted on May 13th, 2025

Millersburg, Pa. – May 13, 2025. Mid Penn Bank (the “Bank”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. (“Mid Penn”) (NASDAQ: MPB), hosted a surprise assembly at Thomas H. Dudley Family School in Camden, NJ, on May 5 in celebration of its Millionaire for a Day essay contest winner.

The Millionaire for a Day essay contest invited students in grades one through five attending Camden schools to submit a short essay answering the question, “What would you do if you were a millionaire for a day?” In addition to the limo ride, recognition ceremony and celebration, the winning student, Osmar, received 90 days’ worth of interest on a $1 million bank account balance, gift-filled backpacks for him and his classmates and $300 in classroom funds for his teacher.

Osmar, a fourth grader, arrived at school in a limousine provided by the Bank, accompanied by his teacher, mother and five friends. They were welcomed by cheering classmates, teachers, school staff, Bank employees and city officials. The celebration kicked off with a school-wide assembly, opened by Mid Penn Bank Regional President Jeff Steigerwalt, who welcomed attendees and thanked them for showing up to support Osmar. With the help of Mid Penn Bank Regional CRA Officer Ryan Thompson, Steigerwalt and Thompson led a short trivia game with students, awarding gift cards to audience members who answered correctly.

Proceeding remarks were delivered by Councilman Falio Leyba-Martinez, Camden Education Fund CEO Giana Campbell, Principal Evelyn Ruiz, and Osmar’s teacher, Jazmin Cruz, introduced him before he read his winning essay aloud.

“I am incredibly proud to share with you the work of my students who have been demonstrating remarkable strength and growth in their English language skills,” Cruz said. “As many of them are navigating the challenges of writing an essay in English despite Spanish being their first language, their dedication and progress have been inspiring.”

Following closing remarks by Principal Ruiz, the celebration continued to Osmar’s classroom with pizza, cake, gift-filled backpacks and activities for him and his classmates. The event coincided with the start of Teacher Appreciation Week, adding special meaning to a day that celebrated both student achievement and educators who make it possible. The contest and event highlight Mid Penn Bank’s MySavings program, which promotes financial literacy through age-appropriate education and community engagement.
