MID PENN BANK CELEBRATES MILLIONAIRE FOR A DAY ESSAY CONTEST WINNER IN PHILADELPHIA
Millersburg, Pa. – January 20, 2026. Mid Penn Bank (the “Bank”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. (“Mid Penn”) (NASDAQ: MPB), hosted an assembly at George W. Nebinger Elementary School in Philadelphia on December 22 to celebrate Rosie, a third-grade student and the winner of its Millionaire for a Day essay contest.
The Millionaire for a Day essay contest invited students in grades 1-5 from Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery and Delaware counties to write about what they would do if they were a millionaire for a day. The contest rewards one student with a limo ride to school, a recognition ceremony and classroom celebration, along with 90 days’ interest on a $1 million bank account balance. The winner’s teacher also receives $300 for classroom use, and each classmate receives a gift-filled backpack.
Rosie arrived at school by limousine alongside her mother, sister and five friends and was greeted by her father, classmates, teachers and Mid Penn Bank employees. The celebration began with an assembly opened by Principal Ayana Townsend, who welcomed attendees and introduced Abe Ibrahim, Mid Penn Bank regional president. Ibrahim recognized Rosie’s achievement and emphasized the importance of financial literacy before introducing Rosie, who read her winning essay aloud to the assembly while joined onstage by her teacher, Brittany Wood.
“Rosie’s winning essay showed not only advanced and creative writing skills but also a generous heart, which I believe made her entry stand out,” said Wood. “Her ideas about giving to others reflect the positive behavior, responsibility and academic excellence she brings to the classroom every day. I am super proud of Rosie and everything she has accomplished so far this third-grade year and look forward to seeing her advance through the rest of the year.”
Eric Murchison, commercial loan officer, and Jess Watson, financial center assistant manager, presented Wood with a gift card for classroom use and later led a trivia game with students, awarding gift cards to participants who answered questions correctly.
Following closing remarks by Ryan Thompson, regional CRA officer, the celebration continued in Rosie’s classroom, where she and her classmates marked the occasion together while enjoying cupcakes and balloons provided by the Bank. The Bank plans to host the Millionaire for a Day essay contest annually in the fall as part of its MySavings program, which promotes financial literacy through age-appropriate education and community engagement.
