Mid Penn Bank, subsidiary of Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: MPB), is seeking regulatory approval to open a branch at 1021 Centre Turnpike in Orwigsburg. The bank today submitted an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Upon receiving the necessary approvals and completing renovations, the office will open as Miners Bank, a division of Mid Penn Bank, in June of 2017.

“We are pleased to announce our intent to open an office in Orwigsburg and expand the Miners Bank branch network,” said Mid Penn Bank President and CEO Rory G. Ritrievi. “Since acquiring Miners Bank in 2015, we have enjoyed getting to know many of the communities within Schuylkill and Luzerne counties. We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to our Orwigsburg branch while providing the same level of service and expertise that is available to customers across our entire footprint.”

It is anticipated that the Orwigsburg location will employ three to five team members to fulfill personal banking, business banking and lending needs at the location. Mid Penn currently has 21 branches serving Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Luzerne, Northumberland and Schuylkill counties.
