Team Member Spotlight featuring Kevin Petzold

Kevin is a Commercial Loan Manager based out of our Newton location.

How did you get into the banking industry?

I studied finance at Pitt (H2P!) and started working at a small community bank in Doylestown, Bucks County right out of college. I started in operations and credit, then moved into portfolio management and ultimately into a lender role. Throughout my career, I’ve always been on the commercial side of banking.

What are your main responsibilities as a Commercial Loan Manager?

I am primarily tasked with onboarding new commercial relationships for the Bank, as well as managing a team of four within the Southeastern PA region. We all work together to find new relationships and manage the risk of our existing portfolios.

Tell us about a recent project that you are proud of.

With the help of our credit team, I recently closed an SBA 504 commercial real estate purchase transaction for a longtime customer and referral source who is moving their company headquarters to Conshohocken, PA. SBA 504 transactions require more work upfront, but the financial benefit for the customer makes it absolutely worthwhile.

Who has been your greatest mentor throughout your time at Mid Penn Bank?

Without a doubt, it has been my direct manager, Jared Utz. I’ve known Jared since 2011, and he has consistently been a great resource, advocate, and example of what it means to be a commercial lender at a community bank.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have run four marathons in the past four years, trying to break the three-hour mark. My best time to date is 3 hours and 2 minutes, but I’ll be trying again in 2027! Can’t give up on your goals!
