Team Member Spotlight: Melinda Powell

What was your first job ever?

My first job was at an early age in my parents’ grocery store. I cleaned and stocked shelves, worked the deli counter, and eventually moved up to the checkout counter. My parents taught me that hard work has its rewards. Always strive for the best possible results and take pride in what you accomplish.

Who has been your biggest career mentor or influence? 

The person who has had the biggest influence on my life is my mother. She taught me the importance of being and staying active, reminding me that positive movement is an asset! At 94, she continues to live independently and maintains an active lifestyle.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Working at Mid Penn Bank is incredibly rewarding. Our employees are the best of the best! The most rewarding part of my job is having the opportunity to grow and move forward within Mid Penn Bank, the Community Impact Department, and in the communities we serve.

What advice would you give to someone new to the company/industry? 

My advice to a new employee would be to always come to work with a positive attitude. Smiles are free, give them out often! Observe your senior staff members, learn from what they have to offer, and continue your development through Mid Penn Bank’s resources.
